Spring is definitely ‘in the air’ and women in Ruddington are being invited to gather again to celebrate its arrival.
‘Messy Mums’ – an evening of ‘chatting, crafting using upcycled materials, plus cake and wine’ – is back this Thursday at St Peter’s Church. It’s a FREE event, usually held there three times a year for the mums in our village, although non-mums are also welcome. However, organisers say it is specifically for “ladies”.
Liz Mack of St Peter’s Church explains: “Messy Mums was born out of Messy Church, a family focused church event we regularly put on before COVID. There was always crafts and food involved, but some of the leaders of Messy Church thought why not offer something in the evening for mums, with grown-up crafts and wine, etc? It’s a good way for mums to be themselves without the kids, and relax with friends, but still get a night out. It’s been really popular and grown each time we put it on!”
This year they are continuing a ‘triptych’ – using the seasons in which they hold these events as the inspiration – to make a permanent reminder. “A triptych is a picture in three parts” reveals Liz. “We painted a background across three canvases that make a continuing picture, and then invite people to add to the picture according to the season it covers. The one we are completing in March is winter. We started the first canvas of this triptych last year.”
Messy Mums ‘Farewell to Winter’ is being held this Thursday 2nd March 2023, from 7pm until 9pm, in St Peter’s Church. All women are welcome.
